Cavatelli is a pasta that is popular in Southern Italy, an authentic, traditional shape about 3cm in length with a rolled edge similar to the appearance of the more familiar gnocchi. 'Cavare' literally means 'to scoop' and the concave shape of Cavatelli pasta naturally scoops up any sauce into its hollows masking a satisfying and flavoursome dish.
