Steens

Steens is a pioneering producer of manuka and other honeys in New Zealand.

Steens is a pioneering honey producer in New Zealand. Set up by husband and wife team Paul and Sheryl Steens in the 1980s it has grown into a very successful company managing around 7000 hives. Born from the need for quality beehives to support pollination in the kiwifruit farming industry, Steens began by simply supplying hives and harvesting honey. The dedicated scientists at Steens made breakthrough discoveries about the health benefits of manuka honey, and in order to supply this unique honey Steens began placing hives in the most rural and remote areas of New Zealand. Taking care to have a minimal impact on local nature, helicopters are used to place hives and harvest honey where there are no truck routes. Local landowners are paid rent to support local communities and encourage the maintenance of manuka plants, ideal to regenerate erosion prone land and form the basis of new forests.

The multinational team at Steens hail from New Zealand, Canada, the Phillipines, Columbia, America, England and Peru. They are bound together by a passion for honey and the desire use the companies' success to help make the world a better place whether through protecting the environment, supporting local communities and charities.

The award winning honeys produced by Steens are 100% natural and unprocessed for the purest and most health promoting result possible. All hives are monitored through a Track and Trace system, and every stage of production is continuously audited to ensure the company's high standards are maintained. A truly amazing company with an extraordinary product offering the best health and flavour with a conscience.
