Oleificio Di Molfetta
Oleificio Di Molfetta produces delicious Extra Virgin and infused olive oils in Italy.
A family run business, the Oleificio Di Molfetta olive oil mill was founded in 1950 by Girolamo Di Molfetta and his brothers. The mill is situated within Barone Melodia manor farm where the succulent olives that are used to make the company’s oils are grown. The olives are typical of the Puglia region and Coratina and Oliarola varieties are grown and blended to create the company’s flagship Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
In years gone by oil was produced in the traditional way with olives being handpicked and hand ground between huge stone “mullers” which were rotated using horses to grind the olives to a paste. The paste was then crushed in wooden presses manually to extract the olive oil. Today Di Molfetta oils are produced with the same loving care and attention to detail, with a sensitive introduction of modern technology to ensure the traditions and the integrity of the oil stay true to the heritage of the area. Olives are processed within 24 hours of harvesting and all processes are monitored to ensure they adhere to the necessary standards.
As well as creating high quality Extra Virgin Olive oils, Di Molfetta are diversifying by developing a delicious range of oils infused with typically Italian flavours including versions in orange, lemon, chilli pepper and basil.
Di Molfetta produces wonderful fruity, full-bodied oils with all stages from growing the fruit to bottling the oil completed on site for a fully traceable product.
