Greppi di Silli
Greppi di Silli produces a remarkable range of honey in Tuscany.
The Greppi di Silli farm located between Siena and Florence in the Chianti region of Tuscany in Italy is a family dynasty with humble beginnings. In 1934 Gianni Alfani bought the farm, determined to farm his own land instead of sharecropping. His values of love for the land, respect for nature and his passion and dedication to grow and create exceptional products reflecting the region live on today.
The farm produces a wide range of local olive oils, but the main reason we are involved with Greppi di Silli is for the outstanding selection of honey. Beehives have been a part of this farm since the very beginning and a deep understanding of nature and respect for these amazing creatures is what enables the family to continue to supply their distinctive, superior quality honeys. Age-old traditions and family secrets add to the mystic, but fundamentally it is the uncontaminated, healthy environment that surrounds the hives. No pesticides or chemical fertilisers pollute the landscape here and the natural biodiversity is preserved giving the bees a perfect location for producing some of the world's best honey.
Greppi di Silli produces two kinds of honey, “Unifloral” which predominantly uses one particular flower for a variety of tastes and textures and “Thousand Flowers” which incorporates a mix of sources. A special paper packaging has been developed to protect the precious honey from light to ensure it reaches the customer as fresh and sweet as the day it was harvested.
